Easter

The kids don't really get to enjoy searching for eggs until after church on 9 a.m. years, but they do peek at what the Easter Bunny has left them. It is getting a lot less dramatic around here, but the girlies still enjoy it quite a bit. The rest of us just enjoy the fruits of their labors...we all love creme eggs! Here's a couple of pics of the girls and their stuffed animals and playing around like bunny rabbits.

Dakota Lynn Haynes

Kodee knows her full name and there is a reason for this. She runs our household!!! This is what she has been known to do quite frequently:
She probably peed her pants and took them off. But she is actually playing with the nativities on top of the piano. Now you know why she is our last. We just can't handle anything else.
This was after going to Temple Square. It's a good thing that not only does she have a cute bum, but she has a cute face as well.
Dakota you make my life more interesting every day and I am grateful that Heavenly Father is wiser than I am and knew that we needed you in our lives. I love you baby girl!

Kodee....Man, She is silly!

I'm actually going to combine of few things about Kodee that have happened lately. On Sat. Gary was at a shop night dressed up as Santa and when he came home, she totally freaked out. So on Sunday evening Gary got dressed up again and she sat there and watched and still didn't think sitting on his lap was such a good idea. Sadie tried to tell her to close her eyes if she was scared, but she had to keep her eyes open so that she would know where he was at all times. He will probably dress up again, let's see if it gets any better.

And the other day she came out of her room naked again. This is how the conversation went:

Me: Did you pee in your pants again?
Kodee: No.
Me: Then go put your pants back on.
She then goes back into her room and puts on her underwear and pants which were, of course, wet!!!
Me: Kodee, take those off. You peed in them.
Kodee: You don't need to spank me, mom, I already did!
Me: Show me how you spanked yourself.
She then give herself a little pat on the bum. I just thought it was so funny. Not only will she put herself in the corner, but now she will spank herself. Apparently, those are not going to be very effective methods of discipline with her. There is a reason why she is the last. She makes us absolutely crazy at times.
This is a picture of her after she put beautiful sparkle gel on her face.

Through the eyes of a 2 yr. old

This is what happens when a 2 yr. old gets hold of your camera. She is getting pretty good at taking pictures. Usually it is Sadie's, but mine was on the bar ready to upload pictures from D.C. Lucky me. These are only a few. Aren't we lucky she didn't use up a whole roll of film? Digital is so nice!!!!

Playing Turtle

This is a common sight every morning after the girls get out of the shower:
I let them play turtle for a few minutes before they get dressed. Some days I would like to do the same, but I'm sure it just wouldn't look as cute, nor would their towels cover me like they do them. Cute little girlies. I just love them.

Potty Trained

I finally decided to quit making excuses and potty train Kodee. She has been out of diapers for about about a month now. So I can say she is potty trained. She does really good most of the time, especially at soccer games when we have to take her to the port-a-potties. Way Nasty, but she seems to think 4 or 5 times in a 2 hour time span is fun. And she can spot a potty at every store. She even does good at night (I take her after she has been sleeping about 2 hours)! But if she is busy, she might just take her pants off and pee on the floor like she did yesterday. I told her that was naughty and put her in the corner. After Gary got home she did it again and he told her it was bad. Her exact words in a very sweet voice, "That's bad? O.K. I'll go to the corner." And she went to the corner. Crazy child. But then she was asleep on my bed and I just wanted to cuddle her and hold her because I realize how quickly they really do grow up and I don't want to miss enjoying this little girl. I'm glad for her company while the rest of the kids are at school.

Sisters

A couple of weeks ago McKenzie mentioned that she wanted to get her ears pierced. So after Gary and Trevor left for Scout Camp on Monday we headed up to the mall and met Niki there. We had to wait a while because 3 sisters were getting theirs done. So we had plenty of time to pick out earrings. Dakota looked at them also and picked out blue flowers, while Kenzie picked out pink flowers. So typical of their personalities.
I was hesitant about doing Kodee's, but let her watch Kenzie to see what she thought. Kenzie's eyes welled up with tears after the first one and after the second cried for a minute. After a couple of minutes she said that they didn't hurt anymore.
She's glad she did it. As for Kodee, as soon as we said Kenzie was done, she said, "My turn." I thought that if she picked out the same ones she had decided on earlier that I guess her mind was made up. And yes she picked out the blue flowers again so we did hers also. No crying out of her.
We handed her a sucker when she was done and then she wanted to stay and watch the next girl get hers done as well. Kenzie is great about remembering to clean their ears 3 times each day. They are pretty cute together.

Nemo or Up???

Well, take your pick. Gary rented The Blind Side last night and we thought that we would watch it as a family. Only problem, one person in the family can really make the movie impossible to enjoy. Her choice is either Nemo or Up. Maybe because those are the only movies she can say, but she really does love them. Nemo is #1, but Up is a close 2nd. So here we are sitting in my bed watching Up while the rest of the family is watching The Blind Side downstairs. I will have to watch it later. What a sad life I really lead.

P.S. A couple of days ago McKenzie wanted to go and get the treasure chest out of Blake's Leprechaun trap that belongs to her Little People. So she sets out to the backyard and quickly comes back in. She had tears welling up in her eyes, so I asked what was wrong. She said she was scared and I asked her, "of what?", yes, she was afraid of the Leprechaun. I was in the middle of doing something, so I told her to make Kodee get it. Between the two of them, they finally came back with the treasure chest and I had a little chuckle watching Kenzie creep upon it and pointing at it so that Kodee would know what to get.

The Blanket Blob

Every morning before waking up Blake I check on and cover the little girls. Last week we moved Kodee (Dakota) into a big bed and took down the crib. She really liked her crib, but she's 2 and been in one longer than any of the other kids, so I tried not to get too emotional with #7 not being such a baby anymore. Well, twice this week she was on the floor like this big blanket blob. I guess it couldn't have been too bad of a fall if she stayed asleep, right?
